Thoughts to Avoid in order to be Happy
- Greed
Wanting more and more of something you like will only make you blind towards other things that might interest you and make you addicted to a
certain thing which you might not be able to get and thus you will be disappointed and depressed. Instead of thinking you could get more and be happier, why don’t
you be grateful for what you’ve got?
- Comparison
Everybody are different and unique in their own way, why compare yourself to others?
You were born an original , don’t die a copy.
- All or nothing thinking ( if it is not white is must be black)
This type of thinking is quite a stubborn way of looking at things, you don’t allow yourself to stand in between two points and evaluate which one could be wrong or right.
In certain occasions both sides could be correct, open your mind more.
- Perfectionism
Nothing and No one in this world is perfect so craving perfectionism will only disappoint you. Sometimes you’ve got to love the flaws in order to understand yourself the best, or understand others in a better way.
- Jumping to negative conclusions
Why allow yourself to start getting depressed before anything bad has even happened? Never assume the worst !
- Holding Grudges
This is the worst self-punishment you could give yourself, if you want to be happy which I presume everybody does, then forgive and forget.
-Emotional reasoning
Never go for that gut ” I have a feeling it’s going to turn bad “. Usually when you put it in your mind that something might occur you naturally look
for the bad things that could happen , why ? It’s basically looking for something to be sad about, how stupid could that be?
- Labeling yourself and others
Never label yourself as anything ( i.e. loser, stupid) because after you do, you tend to live up your life this way because you believe you are this way.
Moreover, by labeling others and yourself you miss out all the good points of that person and yourself.
- Taking responsibility for everything
Don’t always take responsibility for things you couldn’t have controlled. Why give yourself such guilt?
What have you done?
# Random Tip: ALWAYS smile. When you’re mentally happy your brain sends signals to your body and makes you smile, reverse the effect by smiling and making yourself mentally happy as well. It really works, try !
Great post! Most of these lessons have to be learned the hard way!
Yes most times.
